The Magic of Wine Gift Baskets

by GiftBasket on February 13, 2010

Is there anything more elegant than a sumptious dinner accompanied by fine wine?  Yes, there is!  It’s the luxury of having that fine wine with a complimentary snack–the ultimate in self-indulgence.  That’s the experience you give when your gift is a carefully selected wine gift basket.

We offer an exquisite array of wine baskets–from wine and cheese to simple nuts.  We have something to match every taste and every occasion.

What kind of gift would you like to send?  A passionate red or a subtle white?  Perhaps the prestige of the world’s finest champagne?  Something a little less potent?  We even have non-alcoholic wine gift baskets.

Choosing the Right Wine Gift Basket

It’s nearly impossible to go wrong when choosing a wine basket, but there are a few things to consider.  First, always make sure that the recipient drinks wine.  (If you are uncertain, select a different gift–perhaps a gourmet fruit basket.)  Second, if you know that the person to whom you’re sending is staying away from alcohol for dietary reasons, we do offer non-alcoholic wine gift baskets.  Third, if you know your loved one prefers either red or white wine, obviously, send the wine basket with the appropriate wine.  However, if you don’t know the preference of your gift recipient, I strongly suggest sending white wine.  White is always a safe bet.  The safest bet of all is to send champagne, but only if it’s in your price range.  Fourth, if you are ordering from outside the U.S., you may not be aware that people under 21 years of age are prohibited from possessing alcohol.

Don’t overlook the food that you wish to accompany your wine basket.  The purpose of the food is to accentuate and compliment the wine.  Cheese and wine baskets are undoubtedly the most popular combination, but also consider some of the other choices.  Granted, I love cheese more than almost anything, but high quality nuts offer a great–and healthy–alternative.  The saltiness of the nuts and their crunch offer a wonderful contrast to a full bodied wine.

Some younger drinkers, especially college students, haven’t yet acquired a taste for wine–afterall, wine probably doesn’t fit their budget very well.  Although I find that many university students do spring for a bottle of wine for a special occasion.  However, for younger people our beer gift baskets may be a preferred alternative.

In the U.S. individual states have their own laws pertaining to the shipment of any alcoholic beverage.  Some states do not permit receipt of shipped alcoholic products.  (In those cases, again, a fruit basket is probably the best gift choice.)  Our website will assist you in assuring that your shipment is legal, as we only ship to those states where it is permitted.
