A single rose or three dozen roses. What flower besides a rose can say so many things? Say “I love you” with a rose arrangement, or “I’m sorry” with a gigantic boquet of roses. Say it quietly or say is loudly, but let roses help you express your sentiment.

My uncle was a great afficianado of roses. He gave his roses the same care that a doting grandmother might lavish on a new grandbaby. He pruned. He fertilized. He would step back in silence to enjoy the view, whether those roses were red, pink or yellow. When he was satisfied, he would move on to the next rose bush.
Before putting away his gardening tools for the day, he would choose a rose from each bush to examine closely. He would look at the individual petals, each one an example of the beauty of nature. I don’t know for sure what he was thinking during this time, because he never spoke. It was his time alone with his thoughts.
